Officers from KCC Trading Standards have carried out a countywide operation to investigate businesses suspected of being open, contrary to the existing Covid lockdown regulations.

A total of 48 premises – many of them car-washes – were targeted in all districts across the county on Friday (20th November), resulting in officers serving 13 prohibition notices.

Operations Manager Clive Phillips said the visits were the result of information received, rather than at random.

“We were pleased to find that the majority of businesses visited were complying with the law,” he said. “Unfortunately, we had to issue formal prohibition notices on 13 premises, requiring them to cease operating immediately.

“While we sympathise with businesses at these difficult times, we all must play our part and that includes complying with the law.”
