A suspect is to appear in court charged with carrying out a hate crime in Canterbury.

Kent Police were called to the city centre on Tuesday 9 February following a report that a man had been assaulted on two occasions, in St George’s Street and in a bakery. No injuries were reported.

A man aged 42 from Hounslow, was arrested and charged with two counts of racially aggravated assault, and two accounts of assault by beating.

He appeared at court on Thursday 11 February where he was bailed. The case will next be heard at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 25 June.
