A suspected Ashford thief is to appear in court accused of stealing alcohol and spitting at police. 

During the evening of Wednesday 17 March 2021, Kent Police was called following a report that cans of beer had been stolen from a supermarket in Mill Court and two members of staff reportedly had beer thrown over them during an incident. 

Officers attended and following enquiries arrested an 18-year-old man

Upon his arrest, the 18-year-old, is alleged to have spat at a police officer. 

The accused from the town, was charged with two counts of assault, shoplifting and assault of an emergency services worker. He was remanded in custody to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Friday 19 March 2021.
