Two men have been arrested, and a stolen Range Rover recovered, following a reported vehicle theft in Chatham.

The car is said to have been taken from a property in the town at around 9.25pm on Monday 19 April 2021.

It was located, and seized, around 15 minutes later in Hallsfield Road.

A silver Volkswagen Passat, which was parked next to the empty Range Rover, is said to have driven away upon the arrival of patrols.

Suspecting the VW’s movements were suspicious, officers conducted a search and located it travelling on the Londonbound A2 at around 10.15pm.

A pursuit was authorised and, around seven minutes later, the suspect vehicle stopped in the Dartford Tunnel.

Two men, aged 37 and 39 and from the Walthamstow area of London, were arrested on suspicion of theft and taken into custody.

Due to the need to conduct further investigative work, both have since been released pending further investigation.
