Motorists and bus users are being warned that Cheriton Road and Cheriton High Street in Folkestone will be closed for 12 weekday nights while resurfacing work is completed.

Road signs have gone up along Cheriton Road and Cheriton High Street to advise that for 12 week-nights from 29 April to 17 May the road will be fully closed for phased resurfacing work each night from 2000hrs to 0500hrs.

There will be no access for any through traffic, except very occasionally for nearby residents depending on the stage of the works.

Some of the one way systems in side roads off Cheriton Road; from Park Road to Trimworth Road will have the system suspended sometimes. Parking on Cheriton Road during the hours mentioned will not be permitted to enable to the work to be done.

Buses will be greatly diverted and signs have gone up on all bus stops from the Central Rail Station through to Cheriton stating that services along the whole road, between the times mentioned due to the works, will not run.

Evening Bus nos 71 to and from Cheriton and the 17 Folkestone to Canterbury via Elham Valley are affected.

Travellers should check the Stagecoach East Kent website for details or the bus drivers earlier in the day.
