A local man has appeared in court charged with burglary and theft offences across the Maidstone area.

On Saturday 5 June 2021, a car was reported stolen from Tintern Road after its keys were taken from inside the owner’s house. The vehicle was recovered by police two days later.

Property from two cars was then reported stolen on 18 June while parked in Farleigh Lane.

Officers were notified of further thefts from vehicles parked in Tarragon Road, Coriander Drive and Marigold Way on 22 June, and in North Street the following day.

Over the same period, a suspect is also alleged to have tried car door handles and, in two cases, entered and searched vehicles in Abingdon Road, North Street, Hop Garden Close and Oaken Reach.

On Monday 28 June, a man was arrested in connection with the offences.

Two days later, the suspect from Douglas Road, Maidstone was charged with burglary, seven counts of theft and four counts of vehicle inference.

The 27-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court the following day where he was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.
