Four new causes have benefitted from the Port of Dover Community Fund, receiving a portion of the £25,000 funding released to nine charities in total via Kent Community Foundation in June.
The latest beneficiaries highlight the huge diversity of organisations that the Fund has supported in the Dover area.
The most recent awards follow on from the £80,000 donated through the special Coronavirus Emergency Fund in 2020, helping local charities navigate through the pandemic. It supported young families, the elderly, homeless and people with disabilities, and helped organisations improve wellbeing and mental health through art, social interaction and household financial support.
Jenny Beacon, Corporate Social Responsibility Officer at the Port of Dover said: “It’s amazing to see how year after year, the Port of Dover Community Fund continues to appeal to such a wide variety of local organisations and campaigns, supporting many different avenues of our community. I’m really pleased to see four new organisations benefitting from the Fund this time round.
“It’s been a hugely challenging time for everyone over the past 18 months, and I hope the latest installments from the Fund help these charities move on from the pandemic and start to plan for a positive future for their supporters.”
The beneficiaries/campaigns, and funding awarded are:
- Cinque Ports Community Kitchen (CIC), £2,000 for “Kitchen Inspiration” (pictured above)
- Disabled Friends and Family, £1,000 for “Disabled Active” (new)
- Dover Pride 2021, £3,000 (new)
- Dover Roadrunners A.C. £600 for “Dover and Thanet Schools/Communities” (new)
- Kent Wildlife Trust, £4,000 for “Nature conservation volunteering in Dover”
- The Alkham Valley Community Project and Therapeutic Riding Centre (AVCP), £5,000 for “Port of Dover Horseriding Project”
- Vista Twisters (CIO), £2,500 for “BluesBeaters” (new)
- Wetwheels South East CIC, £5,000 for “Soul & Seal Trips”
- White Cliffs Walking Festival, £1,500 for marketing materials.
