Highways England has reported the A2 in Kent is closed in both directions between the A256 east and west junctions (near Whitfield) due to a serious collision involving two lorries.

Emergency services including Kent Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service are among the emergency services in attendance.

Traffic approaching the closure locally is being diverted via local roads. Traffic travelling from further afield and heading towards Dover should use the M25 and M20 to avoid the area. Please allow extra time for your journey if you’re travelling in the area this morning. Due to the nature of the incident, it is anticipated that the road will be closed for some time.
