A police dog has tracked down a burglar who targeted a building in Maidstone to steal some tools.

At around 10.50pm on Sunday 17 October 2021, officers and a police dog attended the premises on London Road following a report of suspicious noises.

A search was completed and PD Bo located Dariusz Kawa in an outbuilding.

He was arrested and patrols seized a bag containing some stolen tools, a knife and a quantity of amphetamine. Some copper wiring and pipes were also located on the ground outside the premises.

Dariusz Kawa, of no fixed address, was later charged with burglary, possession of an offensive weapon and possessing Class B drugs.

The 37-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 19 October where he pleaded guilty to all the charges. Kawa, who was already subject to two suspended sentences, was jailed for 150 days.
