Two men have been charged after police officers were assaulted in a Maidstone car park.
The incident happened in a Medway Street car park at around 11.40pm on Saturday 6 November 2021, after a police patrol stopped to speak to two men and a woman.
It is reported the two officers were then assaulted by all three members of the group and also a further man who arrived at the scene.
Both officers were injured, with one suffering facial bruising and the other sustaining a cut to an arm and a tear to his ear that required hospital treatment.
Arrests
On Monday 8 November, two men aged 24, were arrested in East Malling.
The following day a man from Maidstone was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to resist arrest, escaping lawful custody and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
A man from East Malling was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Both men appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 9 November where they were remanded to Maidstone Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.

Kent Police report that a 49-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both from Maidstone, and a 48-year-old man from East Malling were also arrested in connection with the incident. The 49-year-old remains in custody while the other two have been released pending further investigation.
