A moped rider who attracted the attention of a police patrol by failing to wear a helmet has been arrested.

The patrol spotted the rider in Hollywood Lane, Rochester at around 10.30pm on Sunday 2 January 2022.

Concerned the rider was not wearing a helmet the patrol signalled for him to stop.

The rider failed to stop for the officers and continued on to Abbey Road where he got off the moped and surrendered to the patrol.

He was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent and vehicle interference. Following the arrest, officers examined the rider’s mobile phone and the boy, who is 16 and from the Medway area, was further arrested in connection with illegal hunting, livestock worrying and two counts of vehicle theft.

He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
