A man alleged to have spat at two police officers in Maidstone has been charged and will appear before court.

At around 2pm on Monday 3 January 2022, patrols were called to a block of flats in Knightrider Street, following reports a window had been deliberately smashed.

A suspect was identified in a location outside the building and during an arrest, it is reported the man spat at two officers, striking one on the face and the other on an arm.

It is further alleged the suspect made threats to seriously assault a female police officer.

Charged

A man aged 37, of Old Tovil Road, Maidstone was arrested and taken into custody.

He was later charged with two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker and criminal damage. He was bailed to appear before Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 18 January.
