Kent Police officer airlifted to hospital after collision with motorbike driven wrong way on M25

The M25 was closed in both directions near Junction 3 for Swanley following a collision in which a police officer was seriously injured.

Kent Police patrols were responding to a report of a stolen motorcycle when the bike, which was being driven the wrong way along the clockwise carriageway, collided with a male officer who was airlifted to a London hospital and remains there in a stable condition.

The incident happened at around 4.05pm on Sunday 23 January 2022.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of offences including dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

Both carriageways have since reopened.
