The suspects were challenged by members of the public and left the scene on a moped.

Officers later spotted them riding through Hadlow and located the bike after it was abandoned in Mosquito Road, near Kings Hill.

Dogs deployed

Police Dog Chewy started tracking through woodland and fields towards West Malling, while officers deployed a drone to assist in the search.

Patrols then located a 17-year-old boy in Manor Park and detained him in connection with the attempted theft. PD Chewy also recovered a discarded jacket and glove.

Police Dog Fallon continued to track through the park to West Malling train station where a 15-year-old boy was seen on one of the platforms. He was also arrested and taken into custody.

The abandoned moped was identified as having been stolen from Tunbridge Wells and both teenagers were later bailed to return to the police station on 10 February.
