Two men were arrested after police were called to a burglary in progress in Gillingham.

Kent Police was called to Queen’s Road at 11.36pm on Monday 31 January 2022 after receiving a report of an attempted burglary in progress. It is said a number of men wearing balaclavas and carrying metal poles attempted to get into the property.

Officers attended and conducted a search for the suspects. They located a vehicle thought to have been used in the incident in the Star Hill area. Two men were seen to run away from police.

A patrol located one of the suspects in John Street and the other was found in Gravel Walk. They were both arrested.

A search of the vehicle was conducted, and a large amount of cannabis was seized along with mobile phones and balaclavas.

A man in his twenties from the Essex area was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, possession with intent to supply class B drugs, possession of cannabis and going equipped for theft.

A man in his twenties from London was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, possession with intent to supply class B drugs and going equipped for theft.

They have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
