A man from Folkestone has been charged with murder following a woman’s death in the town.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched an investigation after a 46-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene of a suspicious fire in Shorncliffe Road on the morning of Thursday 17 February 2022.

24-year-old Liam Petts of Shorncliffe Road, Folkestone has now been charged with murder and arson reckless as to whether life was endangered, in relation to the incident.

He is due to appear via a video link before Medway Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday 23 February 2022.
