Police officers investigating the assault of a woman in Canterbury at the weekend have made an arrest.

It was reported that the victim was walking on a footpath near Beaconsfield Road at around 11pm on Sunday 27 February 2022 when she was approached by a man who assaulted her.

A member of the public intervened and the man left the area in the direction of the railway underpass. The woman was not injured.

A 47-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested during the morning of Tuesday 1 March in connection with the assault. He remains in custody while enquiries are ongoing.
