An ongoing investigation into stolen motorbikes across Medway has led officers to arrest three more suspects, bringing the current total to ten.

Over the weekend of Saturday 19 March and Sunday 20 March 2022 officers from Medway’s Community Policing Team arrested three people on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

84 motorbikes and mopeds reported stolen

Since 1 January there have been 84 motorbikes and mopeds reported stolen across Medway, with officers so far recovering 33 vehicles.

The ten people so far arrested are all aged between 14 and 21. They have since been bailed until various dates in April, while officers continue their enquiries.

Police Sergeant, Ross Haybourne of Medway’s CPT said: ‘Thieves are opportunists and will target vehicles which seem insecure.

‘I’d like to remind residents to ensure their vehicles are secured as well as possible and that they are parked in well-lit areas. Keys should also be removed and stored out of sight.’
