Investigators who reviewed CCTV footage of crimes in Medway went on to swiftly arrest and charge a teenage suspect.
Kent Police received a report that, in the early hours of Saturday 23 April 2022, a quantity of cash was stolen from a Mercedes parked in Star Mill Lane, Chatham.
The following day a purse was stolen from a Kia parked in Woodlands Road, Gillingham. A bank card from the purse was allegedly used in a later attempt to purchase items from Tesco in Sturdee Avenue.
Officers examined CCTV footage near the crime scenes and arrested a teenage boy from Gillingham on Monday 25 April.
The 17-year-old was later charged with the two thefts and the fraud offence. Investigators also charged the suspect with a further theft and four frauds committed in the Gillingham area.
He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 27 April where he was bailed to return to Medway Youth Court on 9 May.
