A suspect has appeared at court charged with assaulting police officers in Sevenoaks.

On Wednesday 4 May 2022, patrols were called to a report that a man was causing a disturbance outside the town’s railway station and had been aggressive towards other members of the public.

A suspect was located in a car park in Hitchen Hatch Lane and arrested. It is alleged the man then assaulted two of the officers, one of whom he racially abused.

He was taken to Tonbridge Police Station where it is further alleged he spat at some of those who were present and assaulted two more officers.

Joshua Young, of Hurst Way, Sevenoaks, was later charged with five counts of assaulting an emergency worker, a racially aggravated assault on a police officer and a public order offence. He was also charged with breaching a Stalking Prevention Order on 26 March.

Mr Young, aged 28, was remanded in custody by Medway magistrates on Friday 6 May ahead of a future crown court date.
