A teenager on a stolen motorbike has been arrested in Gravesend following a pursuit involving a police helicopter.

On Monday 6 June 2022, a Triumph motorbike was reported stolen from a property in Dartford, after the keys were taken from inside the owner’s home.

Later the same day, a police officer on patrol attempted to stop the bike in Medhurst Gardens, Gravesend.

Dangerous

The rider did not stop and drove away at speed and in a dangerous manner.

A police helicopter was deployed to locate the suspect and the crew observed him as he abandoned the bike and left on foot.

Patrols were directed to the area and a 16-year-old boy from Dartford was arrested nearby.

Charged

He was later charged with burglary, driving without insurance, driving without a licence and aggravated vehicle taking.

The teenager was also charged with taking a moped without consent and further driving offences relating to a separate incident in Dartford on 4 June.

The boy appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 7 June where he pleaded guilty to all the indictments. He was remanded for sentencing on a date to be confirmed.
