A woman who left a man suffering serious injuries following a knife assault in Tunbridge Wells has been jailed.
Lied to police
Chloe Glew, 23, repeatedly stabbed the victim and then lied to police that she had been trying to help him and that someone else was to blame.
Glew and the victim, aged in his 30s, were known to each other and on 9 November 2021 had visited a flat together in Brokes Way.
At around 9.45pm, three children were walking close to the property when they came across the victim, who told them he had been stabbed.
Confessions
Neighbours provided first aid while they waited for ambulance crews to arrive, and the victim was later airlifted to a London hospital suffering three puncture wounds to his torso.
When police entered the flat they located several knives with blood on.
Glew told officers someone else was responsible and she had simply tried to offer assistance to the injured victim. She was arrested and an investigation revealed Glew had confessed to several witnesses she carried out the assault.
Glew, of no fixed address, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court and initially denied any wrongdoing, but later pleaded guilty to a charge of causing grievous bodily harm. She was sentenced on Wednesday 13 July 2022, to 21 months’ imprisonment.
Senseless attack
PC Jon Short of the West Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team said: ‘Chloe Glew is a prolific offender with a lengthy history of convictions related to violent offences. This was an utterly senseless attack which only by luck did not lead to more serious harm. Tackling knife crime remains a priority for Kent Police and we are continuing to do all we can to ensure that those who choose to carry weapons are brought before the courts.’
