Weapon and drugs charges after traffic cops’ speedy response to M20 crash

Roads policing officers acted quickly to arrest a man for drug and weapon offences following a collision on the M20.

Kent Police was called at around 12.25pm on Monday 1 August 2022 after the incident on the London-bound carriageway between Junctions 2 and 1 in which no injuries were reported.

Officers who had stopped another vehicle for an unrelated reason noticed one of the cars reported to have been involved in the collision shortly afterwards and began to follow it.

The car was pulled over on the A20 in Wrotham after the officers had earlier seized a quantity of cocaine from the roadside. They also seized a knuckleduster following the stop.

Charged

Anthony Daniel, 45, of Nut Bush Lane in Torquay, Devon, was arrested and later charged with possession of a class A drug, possession of an offensive weapon and driving without due care and attention.

He was released on bail and will appear before Sevenoaks magistrates on Monday 15 August.
