Officers have charged a suspect as part of their work to put a stop to anti-social behaviour in Ashford whilst a further three people were also dispersed from the town centre.

Officers were called to the High Street at around 3.40pm on Tuesday 16 August 2022 to a report a group of people were causing a disturbance.

A 24-hour dispersal order was brought in, which gave officers additional powers to move on anyone causing nuisance behaviour in the High Street and surrounding area. Once dispersed, anyone who returns while an order is in place risks arrest.

Dispersed

Two men aged 46 and 53, and a 24-year-old woman, were dispersed from the town centre during Tuesday evening and warned not to return or risk arrest.

Charge

Following enquiries into the disturbance, Darren Teale, 53 of Benenden Road, Ashford, was arrested and charged with assault of an emergency worker and being drunk and disorderly. He has been bailed to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 21 September.
