Owners of motorcycles are being advised to take steps to secure their vehicles following a theft in Herne Bay.

Between 1.30pm and 4pm on Friday 12 August 2022, a Black Benelli motorbike was reportedly stolen while parked in Hanover Street in Herne Bay.

Anyone who has information or private CCTV footage which could assist enquiries should call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/158034/22.

Another bike, suspected to be stolen was found by PCSOs in Telford Street the following day along with bolt cutters, and other tools believed to be used for vehicle theft.

Officers are reminding people to secure their motorcycles when leaving them unattended.

Kent Police Inspector Tom Mepstead of Canterbury Community Safety Unit said: ‘If you can, park your bike out of sight, in a garage or secure back garden.

‘Always lock, chain and cover your bike and if you have to leave it in a public place, find somewhere where it is overlooked and covered by CCTV.’
