Suspect arrested following Strood fast food robbery

A suspect is to appear at court charged with a robbery at a fast food restaurant in Strood.

At around 12.05am on Tuesday 16 August 2022, a man entered the business in Commercial Road. It is alleged he made threats and assaulted one of the staff members, before stealing £95 in cash from a till.

An investigation was commenced by the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad and on the following day a man was arrested.

Charged 

On Thursday 18 August, Ryan Cooney, of Hilltop Road, Strood was charged with robbery.

He was also charged with a second count of robbery when, at around 2am on Sunday 14 August, it is alleged he stole a woman’s handbag as she was walking in Commercial Road.

The 34-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 19 August.
