Words by Ray Duff – It’s understood that shortly after 10.00am this morning, 20 August, a single decker bus swerved into two central stands at the Folkestone Bus Station, injuring a man who was airlifted to hospital.

Witnesses said that the bus just seemed to divert and there was no way to warn anyone. Reports are confused as to why the driver lost control. One person who was sitting in the Dover bus shelter lane was hit by the vehicle.

All three emergency services, including the air ambulance, which landed in Radnor Park, rushed to the scene.

Police remain on site with the bus station closed.

Buses in all directions are being diverted to use Foresters Way, Shellons Street and Bouverie Road East beside the shopping centre.
