Five more arrests have been made by officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate investigating a fatal stabbing in Tonbridge.

The victim, aged in his 20s and from the local area, was assaulted at a location in or close to Avebury Avenue, during the early hours of Friday 19 August 2022. Kent Police was called at 12.55am and attended along with ambulance crews.

A teenage boy who was arrested shortly, has since been released without charge.

An ongoing investigation by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate has now seen a further five people arrested during the morning of Sunday 21 August and all currently remain in custody.

A 17-year-old boy from Coulsdon, a 15-year-old girl from Tonbridge and two 16-year-old boys from Tonbridge have all been arrested on suspicion of murder. A 47-year-old woman from Coulsdon was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective Inspector Lee Neiles, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: ‘We thank those who have come forward with information so far and we are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

‘It is crucial that we speak to anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious, just after midnight. The area where the victim was assaulted was close to Tonbridge Park and a large number of residential properties. If you think you may be able to assist the investigation please don’t hesitate to call us.’
