Detectives investigating a murder in Tonbridge are appealing to residents near the scene to check doorbell cameras and CCTV for important information.

Four people remain in custody following the fatal stabbing, which happened at a location in or close to Avebury Avenue.

The victim, aged in his 20s and from the local area, was assaulted during the early hours of Friday 19 August 2022. Kent Police was called at 12.55am and attended along with ambulance crews. The victim died at the scene. 

Since then, six people have been arrested, of which two have been released without charge.

Four people remain in custody: A 17-year-old boy from Coulsdon, a 15-year-old girl from Tonbridge and a 16-year-old boy from Tonbridge, on suspicion of murder. A 47-year-old woman from Coulsdon is detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said: ‘We have had a positive response to our appeals for information and are grateful for all the help received from members of the public.‘

We are now particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Nelson Avenue, between the hours of 11.55pm on Thursday 18 August and 12.30am on Friday 19 August.

‘Residents are urged to check any CCTV security systems you may have. If you have seen or heard anything which may assist our investigation, please don’t hesitate to contact us, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.’
