A suspect has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a woman was seriously injured in Ashford.

Kent Police was called to a property in Trinity Road at 1.10pm on Thursday 18 August 2022 following reports that a woman had been assaulted.

Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and the woman was taken to a local hospital with an injury consistent with a stab wound. She has since been discharged.

Arrest and charge

A man, who is known to the victim, was arrested in Ashford later the same day.

Stephen Bangs, 61, of Trinity Road, has since been charged with attempted murder.

He appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Friday 19 August and was remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday 16 September.
