Woman assaulted and man treated in hospital after violent burglary in Folkestone

Two people have been charged in connection with an aggravated burglary in Folkestone.

At around 8.30pm on Tuesday 16 August 2022, it was reported that a man and woman were assaulted and had their mobile phones stolen at a property in Cheriton Road in the town.

The man sustained injuries which required hospital treatment.

Charged

Following an investigation by the east Kent CID, James Rooney, 56, of Charlotte Street, Folkestone and Kayleigh Smith, 35, of no fixed address, were both charged with aggravated burglary, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

They appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 25 August 2022 where they were bailed to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 26 September.
