Two 17-year-old boys have been arrested after a robbery was reported at a newsagents in Gillingham.

Officers were called following the incident at the shop in Gillingham Road which happened at around 10pm on Tuesday 30 August 2022.

The victim is reported to have been injured by two offenders who forced their way into the shop before they assaulted him. The suspects are reported to have stolen tobacco products from the shop before leaving.

Patrols attended and carried out a search of the area and a 17-year-old boy was arrested shortly after near the scene.

Following enquiries, a second teenage boy, also aged 17, was arrested at an address in the town at 1.47pm on Wednesday 31 August.

Both teenagers were arrested on suspicion of robbery. They have since been released on bail until 25 September pending further enquiries.
