By Ray Duff: People in Folkestone have been paying floral tribute and signing books of condolences after the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Folkestone Bandstand was designated as the place to lay floral tributes and people of all ages have been attaching or laying them to it with messages and even drawings by children. 

Town Councillors also read the proclamation of King Charles III at the bandstand on Sunday afternoon.

There are Books of Condolences at Folkestone Town Hall foyer for people to sign, between 10am and 4pm Tues to Saturday. Another Book is at Folkestone Parish Church on The Bayle -11am-1pm.  Other Churches may have their own Books.

Flags were also lowered to half mast at Folkestone Town hall, The Guildhall pub on The Bayle, Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone Bowls Club,  and at National Coastwatch station on East Cliff.

They were fully raised during the Proclamation of the new King on Saturday.

Many town centre and beyond shops and businesses placed various tributes in their windows.

Most businesses will be closed on Monday 19th for the Queens funeral including supermarkets.
