A suspected drug dealer has been charged with offences in Gillingham.

Officers were patrolling in the town on Saturday 3 September 2022 when at 2.25pm they believed they saw a drug deal take place between a man on a moped and a pedestrian in Balmoral Road.

Police approached the moped rider and detained him under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. They searched the suspect’s bag where they found what was believed to be wraps of heroin and cocaine along with a quantity of cash and a mobile phone. Officers subsequently arrested the suspect.

Jamie Bailey, 21, of Fort Pitt Street, Chatham, has been charged with possession with intent to supply heroin and possession with intent to supply crack cocaine.

Mr Bailey appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 5 September where he was remanded to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on a date to be determined.
