Plain-clothed police officers have seized crack cocaine and heroin from a teenager in Gillingham.

The officers were proactively targeting drug dealers in the town when the boy was seen acting suspiciously in Cross Street at around 8pm on Friday 30 September 2022.

Police detained him for a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act and found 10 wraps of class A drugs. The drugs were later confirmed to be a mix of heroin and crack cocaine. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug offences.

Following his arrest officers searched a nearby address where further class A drugs were seized. Officers also recovered cannabis.

The 16-year-old boy, who is from Gillingham was later charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of cannabis.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 3 October 2022 where he was bailed with conditions. He is due to appear before the Medway Youth Court on Monday 31 October 2022.

Two boys, aged 15 and 17, were arrested inside the property on suspicion of drug offences. They have since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
