Commenting on the Kirkup report into avoidable baby deaths at East Kent Hospitals the MP for Dover and Deal is urging mothers and fathers to raise any concerns they have to her.
Natalie Elphicke MP said: “Following the harrowing Kirkup report into avoidable baby deaths, I sought assurances from the Health Minister about the current safety of maternity services in the East Kent Hospitals.
“These assurances have been given about improvements in safety for mother and baby.
“I understand that our maternity services remain under close scrutiny by the NHS national team and that further improvements will be made.
“There is clearly more to do to rebuild confidence.
“I have supported a number of local families on maternity services and raised concerns directly with the Chief Executive at the hospital on behalf of constituents. I would encourage all mothers and fathers to raise with me concerns they may have during the maternity process so that we can work together for the improvements needed and secure better maternity healthcare for our community.”
