Advice

Sergeant Paul Robson, of Thanet Community Safety Unit, said: ‘Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident, but I would advise businesses who store cooking oil to make sure they have adequate security arrangements in place.

‘Companies should ensure containers are not on show to potential thieves, store oil in well-lit areas, ideally covered by CCTV, and keep items such as wheelie bins stored away, to prevent them being used to access buildings or scale fences.

Businesses should also review their alarm systems and CCTV cameras, as these will not only deter thieves but also make it easier for us to recover stolen goods and identify offenders in the event of any theft.’
