Four fire engines battled a blaze at the derelict Lydd railway station just after 1.15am this morning, 8 November.

Due to plumes of smoke, residents living near to Romney Road were advised to close windows and doors.

Crews made good progress extinguishing the fire, however two fire engines remained on the scene at 4.00am whilst fire fighters to dampened down the area.

No injuries were reported, and the cause is not yet known.
