Many people will still think of it as Age Concern, but the centre, along the River Dour, is now accessible to all residents and acts as one of the delivery points for the household support grant, supporting vulnerable houses with the cost of living challenges.
On Friday 4 November, Natalie Elphicke MP visited The Riverside Centre community hub for the residents of Dover.
The household support grant is just one of many ways the government are supporting communities with the cost of living. From support with fuel bills, discounts on council tax, and additional payments for the most vulnerable, there are many avenues of support which can be found at the MP’s cost of living hub on natalieelphicke.com/ cost-of-living-help-hub/
Mrs Elphicke met with the Centre Manager, Louisa Woodward, where they discussed the wide range of services on offer; which include, cooked hot meals at affordable prices, home delivery of meals, clinics and services, information and advice drop-ins, a safe place for people to meet friends, or make new ones, over a cup of coffee, supporting those with dementia, and many other essential services for the whole community.
Natalie Elphicke MP said: “The Riverside Centre is a real asset to Dover, providing much needed support in the community, especially with the current cost of living challenges being faced.
“I was pleased to meet with the Riverside Centre manager, Louisa Woodward, and discuss their excellent programme of support for local residents.
“The centre and others like it are examples of how strong our community is across Dover and Deal.”
