A man from Gillingham has been sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment following convictions for child sex offences.
John Justin was jailed at Maidstone Crown Court after pleading guilty to three counts of sexual assault.
Justin repeatedly targeted a child between 2009 and 2017. He was arrested after the offences were reported to police in 2020.
The 51-year-old was sentenced on Thursday 10 November 2022, when he was also made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and added to the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
He will also be required to adhere to an indefinite restraining order to prevent him contacting the victim or their family.
Lasting impact
Police Staff Investigator, Luke Grimmett, who led on the case said: ‘This prison term reflects the gravity and horror Justin’s victim was put through.
‘I want to commend her bravery in reporting his offending and helping to ensure he is held accountable for his actions. His continued offending over a number of years has left a lasting impact on the victim and I hope that today’s sentence helps to give her some closure.
‘I hope this case sends out a clear message that we will do everything in our power to identify offenders and bring them to justice’.
