 A Kent resident fell for this WhatsApp scam where residents are being contacted by someone impersonating a family member who needs help as they claim that their phone has broken and they urgently need to pay a bill. Sadly they lost nearly £1,500. You may be aware of this scam but many others are not. Please warn friends and family. Kent resident loses £3,000 to Crypto Currency Scam when they began trading on a crypto currency platform. They made many trades over a period of months on their account and only when they decided to close their account due to recent news surrounding crypto currencies did they realise this was a scam and they were unable to withdraw any money. Contact your bank immediately if you think you may have made a payment to a scammer and report it to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.  A resident in Kent was targeted by a mail scam, claiming a company will visit to carry out water quality check for him. This is a Scam. South East Water does carry out water testing, in line with Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016. These tests are random, therefore no appointments are made before visiting. All staff who carry out tests wear a company uniform and show their identity card. Report scam to Action Fraud  A Kent resident was targeted by a parcel delivery tracking scam. They had sent a parcel with a delivery service then received an email saying they could track their parcel for only £1. After the resident paid, they were unable to track their parcel. They contacted the delivery company and were told this was a scam. You may be aware of this scam but many others are not. Please warn friends and family. Contact Citizens Advice |
