As the development of Dover’s Western Docks continues to move forward, the next exciting step has been the opening of Dover Marina’s new Boatyard at Northampton Quay.

Improved environmental and security features

Dover’s Marina Manager, Chris Windsor, said: “With improved environmental and security features along with enhanced facilities, the new boatyard represents an exciting step forward for Dover Marina.”

Environmental performance

The new boatyard has been designed so that any water affected by boat owners washing/working on their vessels is contained and bunded.  There are also separate drains for rainwater.  These valuable steps will help to significantly improve environmental performance.

CCTV and access-controlled entrance gates

CCTV and access-controlled entrance gates have been installed, which is an important uplift in security provision to ensure customers feel safe when using the new facility.

Able to lift deep drafted vessels

An increase in the number of water points throughout the yard and the ability to lift deep drafted vessels at any state of the tide offers greater flexibility to customers in accessing the services they need when they need them.

Mr Windsor concluded: “It’s a great day for Dover Marina and we can’t for customers to start using our new facility.”
