Kent Fire and Rescue Service is battling a house fire in Sunnyside Road, Sandgate, Folkestone after being called just before 5.00pm this afternoon, 24 December.

Eight fire engines have been sent to the scene, as well as a bulk water carrier, where crews are working to extinguish the fire. 

People living or working nearby are advised to close windows and doors as a precaution, due to smoke coming from the incident.

Kent Fire and Rescue service are requesting people share this advice with anyone in the affected area who might not have access to the internet.

Update at 10pm on 24 December: 

Kent Fire and Rescue Service remains at the scene of a house fire in Sunnyside Road, in Sandgate, Folkestone.

Firefighters have made steady progress and the incident is being reduced to two fire engines and a height vehicle. 

People living nearby are still advised to closed windows and doors as a precaution due to smoke.
