The person police officers want to identify

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Canterbury have issued an image of a person they want to speak to.

It was reported that a man and a woman were walking in the Borough, where they were approached by two males asking for a lighter, at around 4.10pm on Monday 9 January 2023.

The man and woman continued walking and stopped at a takeaway. On leaving the premises, they were approached again and an altercation took place.

The man was assaulted and sustained serious facial injuries and attended a local hospital for treatment. The suspects were seen to run off in the direction of Canterbury city centre.

As part of the ongoing enquiries, detectives have issued an image of a person they would like to identify as he may have information which could assist the investigation.
