Patrols have tracked down and arrested two burglary suspects within 45 minutes of a break-in at a property in Westerham.

The men were detained following a police pursuit which led to them abandoning a car and attempting to flee on foot.

Officers had initially been responding to an attempted burglary at a previous address, in London Road, Tonbridge which was reported at 5.30pm on Tuesday 24 January.

Break-in number two

A search for the suspect’s car led police to Hartley Road, Westerham, where the officers saw what appeared to be another residential burglary taking place.

An Audi A4 was identified and pursued by several police vehicles.

The car was reported to have exceeded speeds of 100 mph before it was found abandoned in nearby Chipstead.

After carrying out an extensive search two men were located hiding in a wooded area.

Aged 39 and 19, the suspects were arrested and taken into custody and an investigation is being led by the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad.
