Between 5pm and 5.20pm on Wednesday 25 January 2023, officers were called to St Paul’s Avenue where a man was treated by South East Coast Ambulance Service for injuries, including one consistent with a stab wound.

The 19-year-old victim was taken to a London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A teenage boy and a man were arrested in connection with the incident on Saturday 28 January and Monday 30 January, respectively. It is understood the victim and the suspects were known to each other.

A man aged 18, of Maple Gardens, Canterbury and a 17-year-old boy were later charged with wounding with intent. The latter was also charged with possessing a bladed article in a public place. Both were remanded in custody to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 31 January.

Detectives are continuing to urge witnesses or anybody with information to contact them. Motorists with dashcam and residents with private CCTV are also asked to check for relevant footage. Police report that a 40-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assault on Thursday 26 January remains on bail to return to the police station on 25 April.
