At around 1.00am on Friday 27 January 2023, a man was walking in an alleyway leading to a railway bridge from Grange Road, when it is alleged he was assaulted.
The victim, a man in his 40s, suffered injuries consistent with stab wounds and was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
On Monday 30 January, a teenage boy was arrested near Christian Fields Avenue after patrols were called to a report of a person acting suspiciously. Officers also seized a quantity of class A drugs and a machete. Two days later, investigators arrested two men and a woman at addresses in Gravesend.
On Wednesday 1 February, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised a charge of attempted murder against a 15-year-old boy. He was also charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place. He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court later the same day and will next attend a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on 2 March.
A charge of attempted murder was later authorised against a 40-year-old man, a 42-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man who was also charged with possessing cannabis with intent to supply. The three appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court where they were remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 2 March.
Detectives are continuing to urge witnesses to the incident near Grange Road or anybody with information to call the appeal line. Motorists with dashcam and residents with private CCTV are also asked to check for footage that may assist.
