Detectives investigating a serious assault in Gillingham have arrested five people.

The incident happened in the High Street at around 4.55pm on Thursday 9 March 2023.

It is reported a teenage boy was speaking to a group of people outside a shop when he was assaulted. The 17-year-old victim suffered injuries consistent with stab wounds and was taken to a London hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

On Friday 10 March 2023, officers arrested four males: a 17-year-old and 19-year-old, both from Gillingham and two 16-year-olds from Hertfordshire, on suspicion of attempted murder.

An 18-year-old woman from Rochester was also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit assault.

All five remain in custody as enquiries continue.

Officers continue to seek witnesses to the incident and are urging anybody with information to call our appeal line. Motorists with dashcam and residents with private CCTV are also asked to check for footage that may assist.
