Essential beach management work that will help to protect more than 3,000 homes from flooding is to start next week.
The recycling and regrading of shingle between Fisherman’s Beach in Hythe and Folkestone Harbour is carried out twice a year to guard against any risk of tidal flooding.
The latest round will commence on Monday 27 March and take up to eight weeks to complete.
A Folkestone & Hythe District Council spokesperson said: “This work helps shield the sea wall, further reducing the possibility of flooding and coastal erosion over the 7km stretch.
“Approximately 120,000 tonnes of shingle will be moved from east to west over the two-month period. The longshore drift will then naturally spread it to help prevent overtopping and flooding during storm events.”
“We will make every effort to keep disruption to a minimum.”
