Maidstone Borough Council is launching a new art competition for Mote Park, on 1 April and is inviting people to create original artworks that celebrate the stunning park.

Artworks need to be inspired by Mote Park and can be in any medium including paints, pencils, sculpture, textiles, etc, however photography will not be accepted.

The competition is open to any age and there will be prizes for two categories: under 18s and over 18s. Up to 10 entries from each category will also be selected to feature in a special exhibition which will be held in the new Mote Park Learning Space between 21 October to 3 November 2023.

Angela Woodhouse, MBC Director of Strategy, Insight and Governance said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing the amazing works of art we will receive for this competition. It will be wonderful to see some of them displayed in the new Learning Space in Mote Park.  I encourage anyone of any age to enter a piece into the competition”

There will be a special preview event for those selected to exhibit on Saturday 21 October 2023 when the overall winners of the competition will also be announced. The exhibition will then be open to the public and free to visit.

£500 in prizes

The competition is open for entries from 1 April until 15 September 2023 and full details of how to enter can be found at https://arts.maidstone.gov.uk/mote-park-art
